Unlike many other writers out there, I'm also a teacher at heart....with experience to back up my work.
I have taught in public and private schools for over 20 years, with experience in preschool all the way through undergraduate collegiate courses. My primary focus has been on English and language arts, but I have also taught social studies, history, and geography as a classroom teacher. The last ten years of my career had a focus on the reading difficulties of my students, which led me to get an additional endorsement beyond my Masters of Education degree. As a certified Reading Specialist, I worked with students who had difficult either keeping track with their peers in terms of reading achievement or who failed to achieve reading mastery and proficiency.
As an education consultant and subject matter expert, I bring real knowledge and experience to projects, not just theoretical concepts. I know what works with kids in a classroom--and what doesn't--because I've been teaching and learning for more than two decades.

How can I back up my statements?
- I was one of 15 runners-up for Indiana Teacher of the Year.
- I was awarded an WHAS11 and LG&E EXCEL grant, one of only a few given in a multi-state area and a focus on numerous television spots.
- I have been featured on several educational programs, as a focus of my work on grant writing and reading achievement in my own classroom.
- I was awarded Teacher of the Year for my school and school district.
- I was named as an Emerging Leader in Indiana.
- I have written and been awarded local, state, and national grants totaling thousands of dollars.
- My work with schools have led to specific gains in test scores, which I also have the date to prove.
